New findings suggest that ingesting soil is adaptive, not necessarily pathological

an interesting read.. makes sense too! interesting about the bats going to clay cliffs and morning sickness in pregnancy. i have been acquainted with a few people who ate cigarette ash too and i always did wonder what that was about, hehe. not sure if its the same thing but when i was a young one i was often found in the coal shed licking coal.. so this gives me some peace of mind lol :')

i think the makeup of clay is quite different to cigarette ash ;)
i use purified clay in the bath to pull off the bacteria from my skin when my eczema appears - it's by far the best 'treatment' i know of to calm the skin - except maybe for my own urine - but that's not always practical!

certainly yes, quite different. cigarette ash is a definite no no. i wrote that as they mentioned it in the link.  i have used clay a few times and looked at the purified clay for baths but was quite pricey so stayed with himalayan and epsom bath salts. thanks for the tip on good use of urine, if i ever run out of cash and there is a need.. :)

this is what i've been using. it lasts a couple of months for me - roughly. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231941388492

pig's urea is used in many skin creams, so it is really an upgrade to use your own urine! for me it calms my eczema within minutes, but it depends on the causes of the issues involved as to how effective each therapy may be.

the sodium bentonite clay is the most effective one i have found too - so it's a decent price, considering how beneficial it can be. yes, the empire builders want every one to be 'busy bee bastids' as 'pitman' would say!
